A note from JooBee
Leadership scales through practice
This month, I kept coming back to one thing: whether you’re an HR leader stepping into business strategy, an exec team making time to learn together, or a leader building your own 30-60-90 day plan, the work is the same.
You learn the language of the business. You practise the conversations that matter. You build the confidence to lead from where you are.
Here’s what we’ve been learning, building and celebrating across Learngility this month.
Featured story
Liv Bennett leads business strategy planning
“I stepped into that room as an equal leader amongst my Product, GTM and Operational peers, my slides spoke the language of the business, I was challenging the commercial value of opportunities.“
Liv Bennett, Strategic People Leader
Last month, Liv Bennett led a workshop with her executive team on strategic alignment, focusing on what is and isn’t working in how the business weighs up and allocates capacity to strategic bets.
Liv stepped into the room as an equal leader alongside her Product, GTM and Operations peers. Her slides spoke the language of the business, and she challenged the commercial value of different opportunities, not from an HR lens, but as a strategic business leader.
The response was brilliant. Her Product leader, one of her toughest and most commercially oriented stakeholders, was so impressed that he asked everyone to applaud at the end of the session😂. High praise from someone who is deeply commercial, data-driven and not easily impressed.
For Liv, who does not often shout about her own accomplishments, this moment felt especially meaningful. This is the shift STEP UP was built for: HR leaders stepping beyond functional expertise and into the commercial conversations that shape the business.
Celebration this month
From CEO to managers: YLD completes Inspirational Leader Bootcamp

It is rare for an exec team to make time for 3 full days of leadership development. But YLD did! From CEO to managers, their leaders stepped away from the day-to-day to practise the skills that matter as the business grows. In the Inspirational Leader bootcamp, they worked on how to:
set clearer goals and manage performance effectively
give constructive feedback and handle difficult conversations
delegate, empower and build high-performing teams
What made this cohort special was the range of leaders in the room. Execs, functional leads and managers learned together, challenged each other and built a shared language for leadership at YLD.
Because leadership does not scale through one person, it scales when the whole team learns to lead better together.
